Good, but could use a few simple design improvements, April 26, 2009 By Liz (Massachusetts) - See all my reviews This review is from: Adagio Teas Glass Water Kettle (Kitchen) This was a good selection for me because I specifically did not want a whistling kettle, and I am tired of the decay and discoloration I've experienced with metal tea kettles. Other reviewers are right - it seems flimsy, especially the handle, so I set my electric stove setting on medium, not medium high, as I used to. It does seem to boil water more quickly, but that may just be my perception, since I could never actually see the water boiling in the metal tea kettles.
I'll use it as long as it lasts, but I am concerned about how easily it might break, especially the handle. Another negative - if you tip it all the way to empty the last drop of water, the cover falls off. If I were the manufacturer, I would offer an optional whistle, make the handle more substantial and design a more secure cover.

4 months, twice a day, no problems, April 15, 2009 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Adagio Teas Glass Water Kettle (Kitchen) I agree that the kettle appears thin, however my wife and I have been using the kettle twice a day, every day since we purchased it four months ago without any incident. We have a ceramic stove top and the glass bottom fits flush on the flat surface, leading to water boiling very quickly. Hopefully the bottom never falls out, but I see the risk as pretty slim. Guess I'm an optimist and see the kettle as half-full. Only minor drawback is the glass ball on the lid is navy blue, I had hoped it was black.

The kettle is sturdier than it looks and seems to boil water more quickly than my old metal tea kettle. The appearance is beautiful and I've received many compliments on the kettle which sits on my stove. There is no whistle, but even sitting in the next room I can hear the water boiling. I recommend this kettle.
