So far, the customer service from the seller has been FANTASTIC.
I have a Hamilton Beach (HB) water kettle that I bought from Costco (this model: http://www.amazon.com/Hamilton-Beach-40870-Electric-Kettle/dp/B002QXOF7I/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1332901941&sr=8-2, but it was about $22 at Costco). Both it and this Saeco kettle warn that you have to boil water in them twice prior to them becoming safe for human use. It's just a safety measure to make sure any plastic or metal bits, random chemicals and what not have been removed prior to actually heating up water that you plan on drinking.
I brought it to boil once, and it was slightly slower than my HB, but oh well. The HB has no variable temp, no fancy colors. I'll deal with a slight speed downgrade. I let it cool for about an hour, dump and refill the water, and start it up again. It gets to 205, and turns off. Weird. I let it cool... Read more
I LOVE this kettle!, April 23, 2012 This review is from: Saeco Electric Water Kettle Digital Control Panel, Variable Temperature Settings, Cord-free Pouring & Color Changing Technology I bought this kettle because of its color-changing technology; for some people knowing that blue means cool, and red is hot is useful. I can watch my kettle while it heats from anywhere in the room and know by color how hot the water is. I like the rainbow color sequence.
I've had this kettle over a year, and no problems. This kettle will maintain a temp. for two hours. If you use the top button, it will turn off when it hits the temp. you indicated. The bottom button just brings to a full boil. It sounds like the previous reviewer perhaps was just using the top button which maintains temp instead of the bottom button which just brings it to a boil. In a way, it would be better design to have the full boil as the top button, more intuitive. But I'm also sure their are lemons in every product.
It has gone up in price, I think I paid about 39.00 for it, and have since bought another just in case this one quits and I can't replace it, but this is something I really... Read more
