The water gauge is fantastic.
The units are in cups (not fluid ounces/liters) which is much more meaningful for making drinks.
It also changes colors based on water temp. Green, light blue, dark blue, purple, red. It also has the inbetween colors as they mix together. The image does not show green though, and it would seem more logical or me if it went blue to red.
The handle is a great quality, sturdy, not a slippery plastic, no horible rough edges, and it stays solid when you squeeze it. The buttons are nice individual buttons with a firm click to them.
You can press the power switch followed by quick boil to heat straight to boiling point. Upon boil, the power turns off (and it doesn't wait too long either which is good), the light turns out, and it bleeps to alert you it has finished.

I gazed longingly at the kettles that come in various designer colors, but in the end, I chose this one with digital temperature control as being more family-friendly. I make tea for myself and my 10 year old. (She likes the Celestial Seasonings herb teas.) I can start the pot out on one of the medium temperatures (175 or 185), pour out her cup, then put it back on to boil for mine. It's all quick and easy.
The controls are simple, and the opening on top is wide if I need to get at the interior for cleaning some day. (I'm assuming there will be some scaling eventually.) The LED's are kind of cute, but the temperature display is actually more useful.
When you lift the kettle off to pour, it automatically shuts off. If you want to keep the remaining water warm, you have to re-press the keep-warm button when you put the pot back on the base.

It heated the water as promised and changed the color according to temperature, which was fun to look at. However, I could only make it work 3 times and never even got to test the different temperature features. Very dissapointed! Even if it would have worked, I wasn't too excited about the full platic liner for the water level and color indicator. I prefer stainless steel only to avoid any potential issues with plastic leaching. Maybe I got a lemon, but to stop working after just 3 times makes me very uneasy to buy from this company ever again.
